Reporting for SCVMM

In this blog post I will talk about generating reports using SQL queries for SCVMM. There is no in-built feature of generating reports for SCVMM as we have in SCCM. Many times as an IT administrator we have to use WMI queries or Powershell to create those complex queries to get the required information.

As a System Administrator, don't you wish you had some easy way out to create those reports and make it presentable. Also looking at those reports you can easily figure out about the resources which are currently being used and decide when to scale up or scale down :).

For creating those reports you don't need to be a SQL expert, coz I am not :). There are few simple and free tools available to make your job easy. You will need SQL management Studio (2008 R2) and Report Builder.

My next post will contain step by step guide and few sample scripts to create those reports.
